Alright, onto the interview:
BSB: Katie, your books are vampire paranormal romance. My question is, why vampires?
Katie: Why not vampires? Ok, I know, vampires are a little common right now. They go through their phases of hot and cold with the public, but I have always loved them. I can remember when I was a little girl and read The Vampire Diaries series. Oh I just loved those books. From there, I moved on to Anne Rice. Then some Tanya Huff, and on and on. I’ve always had a soft spot for those blood suckers.
BSB: In Vampire Bites, there are 3 novellas. Do any of the characters in the novellas appear in any of your other books?
Katie: Not yet. I have had some great reader response to the various stories in there and people have inquired about potentials to continue the stories. So, while I don’t feature them in anything else yet, it is definitely in the works.
BSB: Out of all your books, who is your favorite character to write and why?
Katie: Out of all of my books, I’d have to say Nicholas, from the Immortalis series. He’s such a fun character to write because he is snarky and often rude, but when it comes down to it, he is the best man to have at your side.
However, since we are talking about the Vampire Bites anthology, I have to go with Mikey. He is my “Male Diva.” I have fun with characters who throw temper tantrums and start petty arguments. My husband says it’s because I love to argue so much. I tend to agree. = )
BSB: As a writer, what authors inspire you?
Katie: It’s hard to say one author inspires me more than any other. I read so much that I think they all kind of help to inspire and to flavor my writing.
BSB: What is your favorite book of all time?
Favorite of all time is Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice. It’s my “classic” if you will. I have it in paperback and let me tell you that book is so beat up. I also have it in Hardbound and it has a special place on my overflowing bookshelf. I tend to pull it down and read it every couple of years.
BSB: As a mom, how do you find time to write?
Katie: That’s a good question. I’m still trying to figure that one out. Family time is important and I want to make sure that my family is cared for first. So, with that in mind, I do a lot of work while the family is asleep. That means I end up with a lot of late nights and often, to my husband’s dismay, I end up passing out on the couch.
BSB: In the novella, Halloween Fantasies, Sasha gets to live out some fantasies. Do you have any fantasies you care to share?
Katie: Call me crazy, but just like Sasha, I want to meet a real vampire. If they were real of course. After reading about them for so many years, you almost begin to wonder, could they be real? Of course, if they were, then there would be a real danger involved in meeting one. I’d hate to end up on the dinner menu, know what I mean? But oh how exciting it would be to see and chat with one.
Just for fun:
BSB: Would You Rather live to be 150 or live to be only 50 but never have your body age past 25?
Katie: Oh that’s such a tough question. As we age we are less able to do the things we could do in our youth so those added extra years could end up being spent as a vegetable. But even with that in mind, I would want them. Imagine all the leaps in technology one could witness in 150 years. Imagine all the history that could happen in that time.

Heather nice interview, always a pleasure to mix the little bits of personal and professional information from an author…
Katie another fan of Anne Rice, “Queen of The Damned” is one of my very own favorite reads of her series as well… I still have a soft spot for “The Vampire Lestat” though as his story is of course the whole point of the books… Vampire Bites anthology was a good chunk of sexy little stories, I would not mind seeing more set with some of the same characters in another novella or two myself…

Jackie, thanks for that, and have no fear, I am working on additional stories to continue on with the characters you’ve met in Vampire Bites.
And yes, Vampire Lestat is another of my all-time favorites. Queen of the Damned got the bump to 1st place because I loved how all the stories tied together.
