This month, The Cocktail Society Book Club (from Goodreads) read Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas.  Lisa Kleypas is most known for her historicals, but her contemporary romance series, The Travises, is a fantasic series.  I read this series several years ago, I loved it then and I love it now.  This month’s book club host is The Book Nympho, so be sure to stop by and check out her thoughts on Blue-Eyed Devil.

Blurb From Goodreads:

MEET THE BLUE-EYED DEVIL – His name is Hardy Cates. He’s a self-made millionaire who comes from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s made enemies in the rough-and-tumble ride to the top of Houston’s oil industry. He’s got hot blood in his veins. And vengeance on his mind.

MEET THE HEIRESS – She’s Haven Travis. Despite her family’s money, she refuses to set out on the path they’ve chosen for her. But when Haven marries a man her family disapproves of, her life is set on a new and dangerous course. Two years later, Haven comes home, determined to guard her heart. And Hardy Cates, a family enemy, is the last person she needs darkening her door or setting her soul on fire.

WATCH THE SPARKS FLY….Filled with Lisa Kleypas’s trademark sensuality, filled with characters you love to hate and men you love to love, Blue-Eyed Devil will hold you captive in its storytelling power as the destiny of two people unfolds with every magical word.

My Quickie Thoughts:

I was addicted to this series after book 1, Sugar Daddy.  Hardy was a prominent character in Sugar Daddy and I was eager to read his story and get to know him better.  I really felt for Haven, she went through some difficult and harsh times with her husband, and those emotions really came through.  I was pulled into this story by the characters and the emotions.  With Haven’s difficult past, this book wasn’t always easy to read, but I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I recommend the Travises series to all romance readers.  Each of the characters has their own story to tell and their own romance to discover.  Blue-Eyed Devil was not my favorite of the 3 Travises books.  (Book 3, Smooth Talking Stranger is actually my favorite.)  However, I recommend reading the books in order.  You get to know the Travises better that way.

Cocktail Choice:

The cocktail choice for this month is a favorite wine.  I have a lot of favorite wines, it depends what mood I’m in.  So, I’m picking a favorite wine that I think fits the mood of the book.  My pick is a complex red wine- the Ferrari Carano Cabernet Sauvignon.  Delicious, complex, great to sip while curled up with a good book!
