It left Luc terrified by his loss of selfcontrol-and Alyssa desperate for more. But Luc is not the only man desperate to have Alyssa…and that’s just one of her secrets-secrets as dark and mysterious and delicious as her fantasies. My Review
Shayla Black continues her Wicked Lover series in Delicious, which is book 3. In Delicious, 3 months after a night of hot, intimate sex, Luc has to fulfill his side of a deal with stripper-turned-restaurant owner Alyssa. He must return as the chef for Alyssa’s new restaurant, and spend an entire week in the company of the sexy woman. Luc hates that he is so attracted to Alyssa because he feels that she is not “mother material”, and all Luc wants is a child and a family. Alyssa wants her restaurant to be successful so she can put her stripper days behind her for good, and she wants Luc to fall for her, as she has fallen for him. Luc and Alyssa’s attraction is too hot to deny, but prejudices, insecurities, lies, and a dangerous stalker may keep this couple separate permanently.
With a story full of provoking, and often exasperating, characters and stimulating sexual magnetism, Delicious is an excellent erotic romance read.
I really love Alyssa’s character, a smart, confident, and beautiful woman. She is a self-made success story who came from an abusive, abandoned background to become a multi-business owner. She is proud of who she is, and not ashamed of how she had to work her way to the top. I have to admit that I was not Luc’s biggest fan, at first. He was so closed minded, and judged Alyssa for being a stripper, while wanting nothing more than to sleep with her. He was double minded in a bad way, and I wanted to smack him several times. As Luc began to learn more about Alyssa and understand her more, he softened a bit, and eventually I began to like him too. I was often aggravated by the lack of trust and communication between Alyssa and Luc. Even with that aggravation, I was enraptured by their story and didn’t want to put the book down.
There is plenty in Delicious to love, from the hot sex to the danger and mystery of a stalker to the mysterious and fascinating supporting characters. One of these mysterious and fascinating characters is Tyler, Alyssa’s bouncer and security man. Throughout the story, I was continually curious about Tyler, and I hope to hear more about his character in the future. There is more to the plot than romance; with a stalker harassing Alyssa, the danger level is kicked up, and with it the intrigue. I was impressed with the depth of the storyline, and the complexity given to the characters. As for the sex, it’s HOT! If you do not like to read really hot, spicy sex, this book is probably not for you. I loved the heat, the tension, and the erotic nature of Delicious. Simply put, Delicious is a very tasty read! If you like contemporary romances with more explicit sex scenes, I highly recommend Delicious and the Wicked Lover’s series by Shayla Black.
