[Siren Classic: Erotic Historical Romance, HEA]
Self-serving libertine Jeremy Greymont likes his sex on the rough side and his women anonymous. Perfectly content milling along through life on an existence of courtesans and fine Scotch whisky, Jeremy has a naughty past and his own demons to contend with, but he’s run out of time with his grandfather regardless. Jeremy needs an heir—posthaste. The lovely Georgina seems like the perfect answer to his predicament and intrigues him like no woman ever before. Jeremy can’t wait to get started on the baby-making and is even willing to tone down his preference for the wild romps he’s always enjoyed. There’s always time to teach her about that later, right?
But Georgina’s demons trump Jeremy’s in so many ways. A brutal assault has left her damaged and vowing she can be wife to no man—not even Jeremy Greymont. What is a libertine to do?
My Review:
Romance readers, if you like historical and erotic romances, you don’t want to miss the Undoing of A Libertine by Raine Miller.
In this hot romance, libertine womanizer Jeremy Greymont changes his life completely to marry and protect Georgina, a woman who has been hurt and wronged. They had been childhood friends, but as adults, Georgina was traumatized and still in danger. Jeremy is unsure of his exact feelings towards Georgina, but he knows that he wants to be with her and keep her safe. Georgina has to face her demons in order to be a good wife to Jeremy and their relationship is not always easy, especially while Georgina’s tormentors are still seeking to hurt her.
I love Jeremy, he may have been a libertine, but he was a good man beneath his bad behavior. When Jeremy and Georgina connected, he began changing and growing as a person and character. He was a gentleman at heart and he did not judge those in less-than-gentlemanly professions. Jeremy proved to be loyal and willing to change. I also liked Georgina, I felt for the girl. She had been through a horrible experience, but she was not broken. She has spirit and determination and she fit Jeremy very well. Their chemistry was sizzling, especially in the bedroom.
There is a dark element to The Undoing of A Libertine, Georgina is a victim of a violent rape and the book deals with the consequences. If society found out about it, Georgina would be considered ruined and have no future. Her father means well, but he gets so wrapped up in protecting the family that he forgets to protect his daughter. I commend author Raine Miller because she wrote this book so well, tying emotions, events, and plot-lines together seamlessly in such an engaging read. The emotions that come across in the book tie all of the events together and are intense and powerful.
I very much enjoyed reading this book and will definitely read more from Raine Miller in the future. The Undoing of A Libertine may have dark story-lines, but the romance and sensuality is scorching hot. All together, The Undoing of A Libertine is an excellent erotic historical romance read. After reading The Undoing of A Libertine, Raine Miller is on my author-to-watch list.
