Book Savvy Babe’s Review:
It took me awhile to get into the world and the characters in Aradia Awakens. However, once I began to understand the characters and the world, I became intrigued with the setting and story line and find myself looking forward to the next installment in the Ovialell series.
The story of Aradia Awakens begins with a woman, Aryiah who begins have some odd experiences. One of these odd experiences is a hot man appearing in her living room and telling her that she is a witch and it was time to take her rightful place. To complicate matters, Aryiah has a memory block keeping her from fully understanding her situation, her attraction to Damarius keeps heating up, and a vampire is seeking out new witches to kill them. Aryiah must learn and accept her destiny and help protect a people from the dark forces rising.
I really, really like the world of Ovialell. The world is unique, complex, and full of all sorts of paranormal species. There are werewolves, vampires, amazons, Goddesses, there are so many interesting elements to the world. However, it took me awhile to understand the world and Aryiah’s situation. I was confused and felt a little lost at times. I felt that some of the transitions and world-building could have been smoother.
I like Aryiah’s character, she was often very confused by all the changes in her life, but she managed those changes well. Her relationship with Damarius is hot, and I felt the chemistry between them. The more Aryiah learned about the other world of Ovialell, the more intriguing the story became for me. The magic and setting are unique. Now that the foundations for the world have been laid, I am looking forward to the next installment in the series. I am looking forward to seeing how Aryiah grows in her new role as a witch and her place in her new world.
