*As of May 13, 2013*  We are NOT accepting review requests at this time.  Our review list is very full.  We are taking the summer to catch up on reviews, TBR piles, and spend time with our kiddos (who are home from school).  Once we clear up more time, we will be open to reviews again (in about 6 weeks to 2 months).  We are still open for guest spots, but most guest spots that we accept will be promos, contests, excerpts, and guest blogs.  Thank you for your patience with us, and we wish you the best with your books!

About YA:

Book Savvy Babes is geared towards a mature audience.  However, many readers read both young adult and adult books.  Therefore, Book Savvy Babes has taken on a reviewer and blogger for YA titles and events: Keri, The Book Pirate.  If you are a YA author or publicist looking for a review or guest spot, please read through this Review Policy and contact The Book Pirate directly via email (bookpirate@booksavvybabe.com).  You can learn more about Keri or fill out the contact form via her About Page.

SUBMISSIONS

If you request a review, expect an honest review and rating.  Reviews from Book Savvy Babes are opinions, not book promotions.  Also, an accepted review request does NOT guarantee a review.  Books can be reviewed by any of the Book Savvy Babes reviewers, either Heather, Laurie, Rory, or Keri.

We accept review requests from self-published authors, published authors, publicity groups, indie authors, small publishers, and major publishers.

When submitting your request (use the contact form at the bottom of this page), be sure to include the following:

• Book Title and Author
• Genre
• Length
• Blurb/ book synopsis
• Relevant web links (amazon page, author website, publisher page, etc)

We will look over the information about the book and author.  If we are interested in reviewing, we will let you know.  It has become very difficult to give an estimate on how long it will take to read and review a book, but 1-2 months is fairly standard.  Also, due to the amount of requests we receive, it is not always possible to respond to every request.  If you do not receive a reply within 10 days, that is an indication that we are not able to review or answer your request.

Do Not Finish Policy:

Due to the excess of books on the review list, reviews are NOT guaranteed.  If a book is not capturing the interest of the reviewer, we will decline the review.  If we did not finish a book, in general we will not post a review or a rating.  We *may* explain why we did not finish the book.  Most of the time, if a book is deemed a DNF (do not finish) we decline the review and simply move on.  There can be many reasons why a reviewer does not finish a book.  At Book Savvy Babes, respect and integrity are valued traits.  We do not condone author bashing, reviewer bashing, bullying or general rudeness.

FORMAT

We read books in a variety of formats.  We prefer Bound Copy or Kindle (mobi), or PDF’s.  Please do not send an e-copy of the book until after we have approved the request.

*If possible, when sending the book, please also send the book cover image (jpg or png)*

RATING SYSTEM

We follow a typical 5 star format for rating. 

• ***** 5 of 5 stars= I LOVED this book! A must-read!
• ****   4 of 5 stars= I really liked this book, A great read!
• ***     3 of 5 stars= I liked the book, A good read
• **       2 of 5 stars= I feel neutral, A fair read
• *         1 of 5 stars=I did not like, or did not finish, not a good read
• I do my best to explain my rating fully in the review.

*Note on 3 Star ratings* A 3 star rating is NOT a bad rating.  3 stars means the book was average, and overall I liked the book.  3=good.

WHERE WE PUBLISH REVIEWS

Currently, reviews are published to the blog, amazon.com, and goodreads.com.  If the review has been requested from an author or publisher, it is always posted in all 3 locations. Reviews may be posted in other locations upon request.
