The romance writing duo Lydia Dare is at Book Savvy Babe today with an interview and giveaway of their new release, The Wolf Who Loved Me, a historical paranormal romance.  You can find my review of The Wolf Who Loved Me HERE.  Help me welcome Lydia to the blog:

BSB: Hello Lydia, thank you for this interview.  To start, can you tell us a little bit about your new release, The Wolf Who Loved Me?

LD: The Wolf Who Loved Me is the story of Lady Madeline Hayburn, the Duchess of Hythe’s granddaughter. (We met the Duchess of Hythe in a prior book.) Lady Madeline has always known she was destined for a loveless marriage. But then one night, she stumbles across Weston Hadley, who has always had a huge crush on her, but is poor and untitled so therefore unsuitable. The night she stumbles upon him just happens to be the night of the full moon, and he just happens to be a Lycan. She catches his shift from man to beast. Seeing marriage as the only way to save himself and his family, he kidnaps Lady Madeline and runs for Gretna Green to force a quick marriage.

BSB:  The Wesfield Wolves series is a historical/paranormal romance.  What made you decide to combine the 2 genres?

LD: We were actually at a conference. Ava was writing Regency set historicals, and Tammy was writing paranormals. We sat there at the conference and decided to work on a joint project. It was like a game of round robin, and neither of us ever thought it would go anywhere. But we’re currently writing book ten, so we were wrong!

BSB: The Wolf Who Loved Me is book 5 in the series.  How do you keep your stories and your writing fresh?

LD:  Each character has a different motivation, not to mention varying backgrounds. So, we hope that our characters and their needs, wants and desires are each unique to the overall storyline.

BSB: 2 of the brothers (Wes and Gray) in this book are reckless and like to wager… Have you ever placed a reckless bet or done something wild on a dare?  Care to share?

Tammy: I have not. The most reckless bet I have ever made has been with poker chips in a card game.

Ava: I don’t think I’m all that daring in real life. I let my characters have all the fun.

BSB: How many books do you have planned in this series, and whose story can we look forward to next?

LD:  We have ten books in all.  The Wolf Who Loved Me is book 8 in the overall series, and two more to follow. Next we’ll meet Weston’s brother, Grayson.  Then the final book is their older brother’s story, Archer.

BSB: Out of all your characters, which is the most like you?  Which is the least like you and why?

LD:  Lady Madeline Hayburn is very much like Ava!  Tammy had a really hard time writing this character because this one was so much like Ava.  It was nearly impossible to get into this character’s head for her, since Tammy and Ava are so different! But Madeline was Ava’s most favorite heroine, for obvious reasons.

Just for fun: I always like to play a little game of Would You Rather.  Please have fun with the questions and explain your answers:

Would You Rather only be able to whisper OR only be able to shout?

Tammy:  Whispers! Definitely!  The right whisper can sound like a shout, if done the right way.

Ava: Whisper! I never shout. So that’s super easy.

Would You Rather be trapped for a day in a shark tank or be sequestered in jury duty for a month?

Tammy:  In a shark tank for a day. Mainly because I would know what to expect from the sharks and could try to be prepared. But wouldn’t have a clue what motivates the others in jury duty.

Ava: Jury Duty for a month. So much to do in regards to people watching. Besides, sharks terrify me. I’d have a heart attack or hyperventilate and drown.

Thank you Tammy and Ava for stopping by!

  1. Hi Heather, Tammy and Ava! Thank you so much for this wonderfully informative and interesting interview! I had so much fun reading about your writing endeavors and how you came to co-write this gorgeously looking series together! And 10 books! WOWZA! This sounds like something for me (I love long series that introduce us to many different characters – kind of like Margit Sandemo and her long, 40-books-or-more series!).

And just look at this cover! Droolicious much?! I love how the book combines historical fiction with paranormal elements – hot werewolves are always more than welcome in my personal library!

I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for this one. Thanks so much for spotlighting this book and series, I have not previously heard about it, but am now dying to sink my teeth in it! :)

  2. And of course, with all the excitement and trying to keep my drool from dripping on the keyboard I totally forgot about my email:

Thanks and so sorry about the spammy comments!

    • LOL, thanks for stopping by Evie!

  4. I love this series. Wonderful cover on this one Lydia!

  5. Sounds like a great read! I haven’t read too many historical romance and none that are also paranormal but this could definitely be my first!

Do you find it hard to write together? How does that work? Do you take turns writing or does one write and the other talks?

    I am for the USA.

  12. I’m in the US and I would love to score a copy! (I definitely agree with Laurie, the cover is JUICY!)

I never thought I’d hear someone who prefers a shark tank over jury duty…but then I’ve never been in jury duty yet, so maybe it is horrible…

  13. Thanks for the chance to win!
