Saturday Snapshot is hosted by At Home With Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky (at At Home With Books). Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
I had my foot surgery on Wednesday. I damaged a nerve in the ball of my foot (technically called Morton’s Neuroma), beneath my middle toes, and had to have it removed. The surgery went really well, it was quick, and I recovered easily from the anesthesia. I made it home okay, but for the last few days I have had some issues with pain management. Once the numbing wore off, I’ve felt throbbing and tingling in my foot. So, I have been taking it really really easy and trying to get good rest. Today, I’m going to share the surgery before and afters… don’t worry, they are not gross at all (I mean that, it’s not sarcastic).
Here’s right before surgery- The Dr marked where he would cut, and apparently drew his signature seal or something…

Frankenfoot

after…
Like how they had to write “NO” on the non-surgery foot? I always find that a bit disconcerting…
Here’s when I got home… My dogs have been uber-protective of me. My Lady (the red one) hasn’t left my side, except for quick outside trips, in the last few days. She won’t even eat away from me, my husband has to bring her food in here… (She’s not spoiled or anything…)

Well, My plans include getting more rest. I’ve been pretty out of it from the pain meds, and haven’t gotten as much reading done as I would have liked. But, the best thing to do is just rest anyhow. I hope you all had a good week.

Sorry about your foot.. It looks like you’re doing everything right to heal quickly. I had nose surgery yesterday after I broke my nose last week, but I don’t have to walk on my nose, so I figure it should heal pretty quickly. The cats have not been protective of me. Instead, they’re curious and climb up to try to check it out. Here’s Mine

it’s the week of surgeries…. I hope your nose heals quickly!

A great excuse to put your feet, or at least foot, up and read! I hope you’re feeling better soon.

I hope you are recovering quickly! This sounds very painful. It was brave of you to document the process to share. Get well soon.

Wishing you a quick recovery! I hope you’re back on your feet soon! That was funny about his signature seal but if they didn’t write “NO” on the foot they weren’t supposed to work on, I’d have written it myself. Too many bizarre stories!

that’s true, and it is standard policy to really clarify which limb gets operated on… it still feels weird though

Anything with the feet seems to hurt a lot…and while yours sounds a lot more involved, I recall the pain and recovery time after ingrown toenail surgery.
There was a lot of soaking, etc.
Enjoy your protectors! How astute of them to sense what you need.

Oh My!!! Hope you are feeling better every day. Take care and stay on top of your pain. Take meds as prescribed!.
Our daughter was a out-patient surgery nurse at one time, she says it is normal that they mark which foot, or wrist or arm or whatever. Guess that is better than them operating on the wrong one. Glad you did not need surgery on your pretty tatted foot. I had a friend who had to have ankle repair and her tat never looked the same!!

I thought “Frankenfoot” before I read the caption. LOL
Awe your doggies love you, that’s sweet.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

That looks painful! I hope that your foot is feeling better soon! It’s difficult to sit back and not do anything – foot injuries can be very frustrating that way.

Considering the number of medical errors that are made today, it’s a good thing the doctor marked the proper foot to cut into. Can’t be too safe, you know! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I had to simile at your foot signature. Years ago my DH was having knee surgery and he told the doctor to be sure and write on that knee so there would be no mistake. The doctor thought it was amusing, but did it. Now it seems like it is standard fare whenever we have surgeries.
Your foot and surgery sound very painful. I pray that you will heal soon and be back on your feet. You have great company during this painful time, that is for sure. Our pet family members know when something is wrong.

I think that photo of your foot before surgery is just brilliant. Hope you are soon feeling better, and able to be up and around.

I hope your recovery goes really well! Glad the surgery went well–and hope the pain gets more manageable. My Lady is a beautiful dog!
Here’s my Snapshot.

At least you have a great excuse to sit around and read more books! Get well soon!

Oh you poor thing! I hope you heal fast. BTW – Sweet dogs! They are adorable.

Your doc has great coloring skills..lol. I had to laugh at the ride home, because of your tat. My daughter went to college and came home with one on her foot too, it is a dove or something and says peace. Get well and glad the pups are keeping guard.

Take care of that foot; sounds painful. Puppies seem to be protecting you:)

Ha! I always thought that writing NO no the opposite body part was a joke…guess they really do it.
