It’s fire season n Southern California. Not too long ago, there was a fire not too far from my house, and I could see the smoke from my backyard. The story of how it started is classic though… A Cal Trans (or some worker) road worker was mowing the brush on the side of a road, ran over barbed wire, sparked a fire. That fire burnt 400 acres and a home. Oops….
Well, I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Although so destructive, the sight of a bushfire in full gallop is quite awe-inspiring. Watching a bushfire way across the valley, like you did, would have to be the best way to see one though!

Scary…The wildfires have really been tearing up the land this year

These fires everywhere have been so frightening.

I am continually amazed by some of the stories of how these fires start! The mind boggles!

How terrible! It’s been so dry here in Ontario too.

It seems as though there is always something small that turns into a conflagration. But I wonder why nobody noticed anything until it was huge?
Thanks for sharing…and I cringe whenever these fires are in the news….
Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

the fire was noticed pretty quick, they got the fire contained within a day, but the home it burned had a bunch of trees and untended brush around the property (very dangerous in So Cal) and the fire was right in it’s path. Luckily it was just the one home, and once the fire was contained, the firefighters used it to do a control-burn of extra brush to help prevent future fires

Scary, those fires! Hope you get some rain soon.

I can’t imagine living in a place near forest fires. It does make for an interesting picture, but it has to be pretty scary!
Here is my Saturday Snapshot post.

It’s sad when things like that happen. I have way more sympathy for that than for fires set by people who litter cigarettes. I saw someone toss a lighted one out of a car on the highway the other day and I was livid. Thankfully it seems to happen less often now that there are huge fines than it did years ago.

Ouch. Fires are scary. It obviously did a lot of damage, but I’m glad it didn’t spread any further.
Here’s my Saturday Snapshot for the week. Happy Saturday!

That’s pretty scary that something so huge and terrible can start like that. My Saturday Snapshot is very brief this week but it’s sad – a site where lepers once lived http://goo.gl/TkmQ7

Wow. Scary to think that what seems like such a small incident could cause a fire of such destructive power. Glad it was contained fairly quickly though!
Here’s my Snapshot.

I am from San Diego but now reside in Georgia and can very clearly remember fire season in Southern CA. I always found it so hard to believe that although we were so close to the ocean, the fires would still find ways to do so much destruction. So glad this one was put out before causing too much damage and harm.

Texas kind of lucked out this summer and didn’t have any major fires. After last year though I think we needed a break. It is always scary when you can see the smoke!
