Saturday Snapshot is hosted by At Home With Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky (at At Home With Books). Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
I know that I haven’t posted a Saturday Snapshot for a few weeks, but I have a great picture for you today! I took this photo at a tiny little town outside of Bullhead City, Arizona (in the Laughlin, NV area) when I went to the river a few months ago with my friend Keri from The Book Heroine. I call this photo:
The Hitch-Hiking Donkey
I don’t know about you, but if I was a donkey living in this teeny-tiny mining town, I would totally try to hitch a ride out of town with a Porshe too. Donkey has great taste, and I find this picture pretty funny. Also, if you look close, you will see that there is a line of Porshe’s driving out of town. Talk about random sites, I don’t know if I was more surprised by the donkeys wandering the town or the fact that a group of Porshe’s were visiting…
This picture is just cute, I made a new friend, a baby donkey! There is a sticker on the poor donkey’s head that says “Please DO NOT feed me.” This town was fun because these donkey’s just wonder wherever they want. They park themselves in the middle of the road and stop traffic, they follow you around, and they let you pet them. I was entertained

The baby donkey is adorable. He looks more at home in the street than the porsche does.

Funny to meet a donkey just like that. The baby donkey is very cute. It looks an interesting area too- I love the outline of the hill behind the town.

Fun pics – looks like a fun town too.

Ha! How fun. I could imagine that feeding them would become a problem, if they’re already so tame.

very very cute.

Imagine that! I thought our island with it’s wandering cows, sheep and pigs was bad but this is funny!

Oh, I love the look of that little town…and the donkey makes me giggle. What a great shot!

What a great picture! I love the randomness of the whole thing!

Fun photo! Donkeys in the road stopping the traffic sounds like all the sheep we saw in Ireland just trotting across the road and holding up the traffic.

That is just too cute! I love the contrast between the donkey and Porsches.

It really gives it that old west feel! I wouldn’t have noticed the Porsches in a million years so I’m glad you pointed that out.

What a neat town! I’d love to visit there someday!

I love visiting there. Since it’s right on old Route 66, it gets all sorts of traffic. One time I was there to witness a few hundred Harleys lining the street.
The townspeople love their burros, keep an eye on them, and monitor what they’re being fed. This protects the animals’ health, and it also keeps them from being completely dependent upon the town for food. When there’s plenty of grass and water outside of town, you can drive down the street and see nary a burro– they’re all out of town eating their greens.
I wonder what the old prospectors would think if they knew the burros they abandoned had become a tourist attraction?

Very cute. To be honest, I’ve visited a few of those towns, and I couldn’t live there either

Adorable donkey. Are there signs that say, “Donkey Crossing.” Here’s Mine

What great photos! The baby donkey is adorable. Around here we might find deer or cow in the road but not in town. The donkeys and the Porshes would both be a surprise!

I love the idea of donkeys walking around. I would have to break the rules though and feed them!

What cute photo of you with the Donkey!!;) absolutely love it, the donkey looked soooo sweet.:)
I came back in reply to your question on my FF post (sorry I’m behind) but I live in Fresno, Ca. About 200 miles north of LA.

Aw, how sweet is that! Sounds like a fun place to visit!

The sticker is my favorite part! Except it wouldn’t occur to me to feed the donkey, and then seeing the sticker would make me want to…
