Happy Saturday everyone. The pictures I’m sharing this week are a few months old, but still relevant. My new little buddy visits occasionally, he apparently likes to hang out with my cat in the garage. My new little buddy is a raccoon. I live in Southern California, and not exactly in the boonies or anything, so when my husband told me that he trapped a raccoon in the garage one night, I was surprised…to say the least. I peaked in on said raccoon, and he stared right back at me, then proceeded to jump on the storage unit, in between the old baby stroller and diaper genie. It was an odd experience, and every now and again, me or my husband will catch a glimpse of him running away. I think the “trapped in the garage” thing traumatized the poor animal. I realize the picture quality is not very good, at the time, I was more focused on getting a picture, not so much the quality…
I’ve decided that my cat makes weird friends. Anyhow, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy Reading,

Lol! Awww! I think your cat makes ‘bad-ass friends’!! They are feisty!! Cute pics! Be careful though, they can carry diseases that are deadly to other animals & contagious ( and painful ) to us. Have you named him yet??

no name.. unless you count “d%&n raccoon” I keep my distance from him…

Aww! I love Raccoons even though they are mischievous little cuties. Your cat has a very cool friend, but I agree with Selena be careful around him. Never know what he’s picked up with those adorable bandit paws.

Raccoons are only known to those of in Australia via US tv shows and movies – they’re usually cast as the bad guys!

In the second photo he almost looks like a cat! Very cool.

Oh, we see raccoons and possums and armadillos around here now and then and they can be quite feisty.
January 26, 2013 at 4:43 pm
I have never seen an armadillo, they do not live in So Cal (I”m pretty sure, but i wouldn’t be too surprised if one randomly showed up on my lawn)

Wow, it is a surprise to find these creatures in unexpected places. When I lived in the foothills, though (also California), we routinely saw foxes and the occasional bobcat.
Thanks for sharing your new friend…and here’s

raccoons are so cute! It’s too bad they can be so distractive, though. I hope this guy didn’t do any rearranging of your garage.

luckily Mr Coon didn’t do much other than eat the cat food and sit in the stroller (which I got a kick out of)

Raccoons are adorable! I think my dogs are making friends with or terrifying the neighborhood squirrels lately. Sometimes you can hear some screeching when they are playing in the back yard LOL
January 26, 2013 at 4:48 pm
LOL, poor squirrels
January 26, 2013 at 8:47 am
Delightful but dangerous!

That is funny great that you had your camera with. When my dogs are being funny it seems like the camera is no where near me and if I move they stop

Cats are weird – our’s has been missing for three days, and sauntered back in today as if he’d never been away! I like the ictures. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/GVIbC

Raccoons are mischevious. Ar our last home we had deck out back of the kitchen and if we put out something like a pizza box, they were there at night looking for a snack.
January 26, 2013 at 3:37 pm
Poor guy! They are mischievous though.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm….I thought I posted my comment, but I guess not.
He is cute, but mischevious…I like his “mask.”
THANKS for sharing.
