My Review:

When I agreed to review Taken, I figured that I was in for another suspense, cop-type drama, what I got was so much more, and I love it!  Taken is book 1 in LM Pruitt’s new Frankie Post series.  In Taken, private investigator Frankie Post is hired to find a man’s missing cousin.  Using her special abilities and with the help of her lover, Jack, Frankie finds that there is much more to this case than a missing person.  When their past comes up to haunt them, Jack and Frankie are on a time crunch right as the violence escalates.  Jack and Frankie need to put the case to bed and get out of dodge, but of course, that is always easier said than done.

Taken is not just a mystery/suspense book, it is a hot, unexpectedly erotic, humorous, and downright mesmerizing read.  It takes awhile to understand the nature of Jack and Frankie’s relationship, but as their past unravels, their bond begins to make more sense, and I found that I was in full support of their unusual relationship.  The characters are all sexually active, the sex scenes are vivid, and very hot.  Taken is no fluffy, sweet romance story.  I happen to enjoy books that are more on the erotic side, so while I was surprised by the sexual content, it fit the book, and I loved this story.

Warning: I don’t want to give to much away here, but I can say that if you do not like books with explicit sexual content, you may not like this book.

The pacing and the plot is excellent in Taken.  LM Pruitt does a remarkable job at keeping the reader on their toes, constantly guessing what will come next and how everything will go down.  I was never bored, and I never wanted to put this book down.  I absolutely loved the characters, not just Jack and Frankie, but the secondary characters are all amusing and fun characters as well.

The bottom line, Taken is a well rounded and well written story, successfully combining action, humor, drama, and sex.  Kudos to author LM Pruitt, I have found a new series to follow, I can’t wait for book 2!
