Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This meme is simple and fun, you just pick up your current read, flip to a random page, and choose 1 or 2 teaser sentences to share! Here are the guidelines:
- Grab Your Current Read
- Open to a random page
- Pick two “teaser” sentences from that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHARE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for other readers)
- INCLUDE the TITLE & AUTHOR too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR and wish-lists! If possible, add the page number.
I am just starting The Reckoning by Alma Katsu. The Reckoning is the sequel to The Taker, a Gothic novel (read my review of The Taker). I really liked the first book, so I’m very excited to see what happens in this book. Here’s my teaser:
The hum rattled, weak but not unfamiliar, at the base of the skull where it joined with the spinal column, and sent shivers chattering down my back like an old engine with a forgotten purpose being started up after a long time dormant. (page 10)
Blurb from Goodreads:
A love triangle spanning 200 years…Alma Katsu takes readers on a breathtaking journey through the landscape of the heart.
New York Times bestselling author Scott Westerfeld (Leviathan) praises Alma Katsu’s The Taker as, “a centuries-spanning epic that will keep you turning pages all night. This marvelous debut is a thinking person’s guilty pleasure.” And Keith Donohue (The Stolen Child) says, “The Taker is a frighteningly compelling story about those most human monsters—desire and obsession. It will curl your hair and keep you up late at night.”
Now Alma Katsu delivers the highly anticipated follow-up to her haunting novel about an immortal woman learning firsthand that the heart wants what the heart wants…no matter how high the stakes. Fans of The Takercan finally indulge in their next juicy fix with the second book of the trilogy, The Reckoning. In this gripping, pulse-pounding supernatural sequel, discover what happens to Lanny, Luke, Adair—and Jonathan. The Reckoning picks up where The Taker leaves off, following Lanny on her path to redemption—and creating a whole new level of suspense.
So, that’s my teaser this week. I hope you all are having a great week, happy reading

I haven’t read The Taker or The Reckoning, but both sound good, especially based on the great description in your teaser. Good choice!

Oh that sounds intriguing because who doesn’t have that feeling that crawls up your spine occasionally. Plus since she is on her path to redemption that could possibly not be a good feeling!

yeah, the basic premise for the heroine in book 2: She’s in trouble…
